Why O2 Mobile Broadband
O2 seem to really be pushing their mobile broadband packages and they have a wide variety of subscriptions on offer. O2 have taken a slightly different route than other mobile broadband providers by offering a tri-network connection which in theory should ensure high levels of service coverage.
Each O2 package supplies a combination of 3G, HSPDA and Wi-Fi hotspot access. This means that the O2 mobile broadband user has a variety of options available to them, and an increased probability of network coverage. Therefore the O2 mobile broadband network offers a variable speed. In Wi-Fi hotspots download speeds will be comparable to high end home broadband packages. In HSPDA enabled areas the service will provide usually around 3.6Mb download speed, possibly 7.2Mb. In more remote areas that only has 3G coverage then the user will receive a slightly slower rate. However, this is always improving with their coverage.
O2 offer several low end packages, all under £20 per month, although the single month subscription plans do not come with a free USB dongle and one will need to be purchased separately, but they are usually cheap anyway. For all monthly subscription plans a free USB dongle is provided to connect a PC or laptop to the O2 mobile broadband network. For the more expensive monthly plans O2 offer some truly excellent sign up bonuses. At the bottom end of the scale they are giving away the popular Samsung NC10 netbook, a top performing machine in its class. More expensive packages provide free Samsung laptops with an increased specification.
Mobile broadband users who prefer Pay as you Go (PAYG) to monthly contracts will surely find O2 offer some excellent deals. Currently O2 offer PAYG mobile broadband for as little as £2 per day, although there is a fairly restrictive data allowance associated with the cheaper plans.
Business users are offered a larger download quota, up to a staggering 9 GB of data transfer allowance each month. Unlike several other mobile broadband providers, O2 have introduced their business mobile broadband at a price point only fractionally above their home use products. For people who expect to be using a high amount of bandwidth each month it may prove cost effective to subscribe to a business plan.
O2 are an excellent mobile broadband provider, further enhanced by the innovative way they are attempting to cover the shortfall in their service area by implementing Wi-Fi hotspots. If O2 have coverage in your area then they would be an excellent choice of mobile internet supplier.
