World Cup roaming charges halved for Three customers!

Those visiting South Africa this year for the sole purpose of watching the World Cup may be in for a good surprise - the Three network have announced roaming charges will be reduced by up to 50% for their customers.

In between enjoying watching the world cup 2010 in South Africa, many people may want to use their smart phones or mobiles to get online, and now they can expect to see reduced charges for data roaming, but only in South Africa.

The Three mobile broadband provider have generously cut the normal cost of using their network for international data roaming. Apparently, to download 1MB of data, it will cost £1.25 instead of £2.50, by Three only charging per megabyte downloaded, customers will be making additional savings.

Voice charges will also be reduced up to 30%, so those wanting to call home from South Africa will pay £1.40/min, whereas if someone calls you it will cost them 99p/min.

According to one of the directors from 3, comparing the cost of data roaming and voice calls from international countries, those using 3 will find it to be alot cheaper in South Africa.

Getting online using a smart phone or iPhone is apparently much more likely nowadays, whether it's to check facebook or respond to important emails, so those wanting to use mobile broadband may get better prices for the duration of the World Cup using 3 mobile broadband.
