Wifi broadband for the olympic games in 2012?

One mega wi-fi broadband project is to be underway for the Olympic games in 2011 by The Cloud, who have guaranteed that wifi broadband coverage will not be a problem.

Wi-fi hotspots and wireless networks will be created throughout London to cater for the huge numbers of visitors to the country during the olympic games, to be held in London for 2012.

Because of the increased number of visitors to the city during the olympic games, The Cloud have had to make provisions in order to allow the growth in people using mobile and data through their laptops and mobile phones.

The project to equip the city of London with wi-fi broadband with the purpose of giving the olympic games watchers extra facilities to use the internet will be spearheaded by major mobile broadand providers as well as The Cloud. According to reports, every three months a meeting will be held with them, the mayor of London Boris Johnson as well as those organising the Olympic games to plan the wi-fi broadband developments.

Only later in the year will we find out the exact plans and extent of the new wi-fi broadband 'Olympic Games 2012' project.

Currently mobile phones using wi-fi networks such as The Cloud have shown how much data is needed, and indeed how much is likely to be used when hundreds of thousands of people travel to the city to watch the olympic games in 2012. This has some mobile broadband providers worried about demand and supply.

O2 customers can get free access to The Clouds' wi-fi hot spots. The Cloud now have over 20,000 hot spots throughout Europe and expanding rapidly.
