Superfast LTE Mobile Broadband Services Growing around the World
According to recent ABI Research reports, many mobile operators around the world are preparing to switch to LTE (Long Term Evolution) which is the latest super-fast 4G Mobile Broadband technology with over 130 networks arranging plans to launch it commercially.
USA Verizon, Japan?s DoCoMo and UK local O2 are beginning roll-outs soon.
LTE is expected to be able to offer better speeds, between 100Mbps and 1Gbps, which makes it a true next generation mobile technology. Yet, with bandwidth shared between big numbers of users, the real world speed will probably be no higher than 36Mbps.
There is good news too. LTE is likely to solve local node congestion. However, the new services will definitely need new and better hardware and customers will have to buy a different dongle for faster speed. It is also possible that mobile broadband operators should kick the prices for their packages up a bit.
The alternative technology to LTE, WiMax, will not go just yet. In the United States, for example, Clearwire, a well-known WiMax provider, is currently building out its network and adding new subscribers thanks to its HTC EVO 4G handset.
