Successful Start of the Year for Broadband in the UK

Recently released UK broadband take-up figures show an increasing interest from our households in the first quarter of this year. It seems that broadband has become a vital utility across the UK, and the number of people signing up to such services has been constantly growing.

Point Topic, the broadband industry analyst group, has released some figures which show that during the first three months of 2010 the number of broadband customers grew in an incredible manner. It?s the biggest boom in nearly two years. This period was the best for net additions of broadband connections since mid 2008. Mobile broadband figures have gone up considerably since the start of the year also.

During the above-mentioned period, there were over 354,000 broadband connections added. This means that the total amount of broadband lines reached more than 18,710,000.

Point Topic officials claim that a slowdown in the number of new additions has been recorded over the years. Fewer and fewer homes need to migrate from dial up to broadband.

Yet, the recession has had a less adverse effect on the industry than we had feared and the figures for the first quarter of 2010 are a strong proof.

However, no one must sleep on their laurel yet. Due to competition, there will be a need for higher speed and next generation products from all providers.
