ONS claims that mobile broadband usage is constantly increasing
According to research done by the Office for National Statistics (ONS), more and more UK consumers are using mobile broadband to access the Internet. Over the past year the number of those who rely on mobile broadband for web access has gone up considerably.
45% of online consumers have used a mobile device, whether that has been a phone, a laptop or palmtop, to access the Internet this year. This is 5% up from the number of people who made use of this technology in 2009.
Experts at ABI Research claim that UK providers such as Orange, T-Mobile, and Virgin Media have really competitive prices for broadband packages, quite as affordable as certain cheap companies in Indonesia and France. This has urged more and more customers to take advantage of the mobile broadband services and rely on them most of the time.
According to the ONS study, there are over 38 million internet users in the UK which is 77% of the adult population in the country. Now less than a fifth of all adults has never used the Internet at all which is significant progress compared to last year.
