New website classifications from mobile broadband provider
Visiting websites may soon be similar to renting a dvd, with a new mobile broadband provider which plans to regulate or classify websites so people will know what they're getting beforehand.
People who watch films know straight away if it's suitable for children or over 18's, with a website classification system this will be more or less the same type of setup. This is probably more widely recognised when going to the cinema, where if you are under-age you won't be able to watch the film.
The mobile broadband service which will offer a rating system supported and helped by the British Board of Film Classification, but this time for websites. As yet it is unsure when the system will be released, but it could help parents who don't want their children surfing unsuitable websites.
Tibboh apparently is employing the use of netsweep to help them categorise each website. Various sites have already been given ratings according to Tibboh to help adults and kids understand who they are suited for.
Making progress already, the system has gone through 3 billion sites already. Mobile broadband users were said to need this level of classification as more and more age levels are using mobile broadband.
