If you still remember, the first generation of mobile phones which appeared in Japan in 1979 and used analog technology. The second-generation started in Finland twelve years later and used digital technology (GSM and CDMA).
The third generation, supporting high speed data and voice services, also began in Japan in 2001. We must admit though that today?s mobile phones are used for much more than the than voice function.
They are used for text messaging, sending and receiving photos, music and videos by MMS, Infra red, Bluetooth etc. We can send and receive email through the Internet by GPRS and mobile broadband.
The Internet has changed mobile phones to such an extent that it is amazing what they can do today, after just a couple of decades. Mobile phones such as smart phones and black berries have turned into mini laptops indeed!
Present-day mobile phones have wide screen and high resolution display, top notch up to 8 mega pixel cameras, music players, extendable memory slots, Java games, downloadable gaming options etc. Better operating systems have brought a new mobile experience to us.
Manufactures have incorporated faster and much more efficient processors in their handsets which are available in computers. And this is not over. We can expect more outstanding mobile broadband experience in future!
