Eighteen million broadband connections last year
Last year there were 18 million broadband connections in the United Kingdom, Ofcom has revealed. The number is set to increase exponentially in 2010, especially with the growing popularity in mobile broadband.
The internet is now a part of common household chats between people of all ages and from all backgrounds. Mobile broadband is now being used for business as much as personal browsing, and shopping online.
Alot of people have coined the phrase 'facebook withdrawal' or 'internet withdrawal' which shows to what extent the internet is a part of our lives and without broadband we wouldn't be able to access it.
Not only do people get their shopping online, but also their music, and arrange many their social activities online too with facebook events, as well as keeping in touch with work.
Broadband is a massive growth area still with a lot of potential. 317,000 extra broadband connections were created in the latter months of last year, both business and home broadband.
Now many of the broadband suppliers are wanting to get in on the mobile broadband action, as BT has the largest customer base using their broadband service as of late last year.
