Broadband infrastructure needs improvements

According to a broadband industry expert, rapid action is needed to improve the broadband infrastructure in the UK.  Otherwise we can fall behind.

Over the last few years, broadband has become a more and more important topic in many different areas, and everybody (i.e. industry groups, internet providers, government officials and consumers) has agreed that the UK broadband infrastructure needs improvement.

Thus we must roll out more advanced speed broadband to catch up with other countries.
One industry expert has stated that more rapid action is needed to ensure the standards we should meet by the time the Olympic Games take place in London in 2012. The capital city definitely needs improved internet and Wi-Fi access by then.

The industry official remarked that currently the United Kingdom is placed at an advantage whereby catching up as well as staying in the premiership of the digital economy is possible.

Yet, failure to prioritise on infrastructure improvements could bring about a number of problems, among which such the lack of availability of new content services in the UK.

He also stated that the risk is not really that we will have to wait too long for material to download, but that certain new content services that are available in other countries will not appear in the UK for quite a few years.
