3 Happy as O2, Vodafone, T-Mobile and Orange Roaming Charges Are Reduced
3 Mobile is gloating as European Courts of Justice denies the appeal of other mobile providers on their high roaming charges.
3 Mobile broadband lobbied the EU parliament for a reduction the rates that Vodafone, T-Mobile, O2 and Orange were charging customers for calling home from the EU.
O2, Vodafone, Orange and T-Mobile appealed against the cuts the EU forced them to make. Instead of considering their appeal the EU cut the prices even further.
Overjoyed at that they had won the battle someone speaking on behalf of 3 Mobile expressed the company?s delight that the European Court had rejected the appeal. 3 Mobile joined a lobby of consumer groups to petition the EU Commission to allow competition to flourish by ending excessive charges for roaming in Europe.
3 Mobile responded to the judgment of the court by saying that it had not only strengthened the decision of the Commission but ensured that customers would benefit from cheaper calls when they were abroad, giving them huge savings. Whether the other providers will try to make up their losses by raising costs in other areas of provision remains to be seen.
